My name is Jinyi Kuang (匡金一). I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at Columbia Business School. I received my Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2026, along with a dual Master’s degree in Statistics and Data Science from the Wharton School.
My research examines the social and cognitive mechanisms underlying social norm perceptions and inferences. Focusing on the interplay between individual cognition and social environments, I investigate how people infer collective behaviors, how these inferences shape their own actions, and how such processes give rise to broader social phenomena.
To address these questions, I draw on methods from social, cognitive, and network science, including behavioral experiments, computational modeling, and network analysis.
I am also an affiliated member of The Social Interaction Lab at Stanford University.
